There are meny blifes of Matariki like the seven eyes of Tawhirimatea god of the air or the most commen seven sisters.But they all state that Matariki is the start of the Maori New Year and if you can't see Matariki it's considered bad luck, on the other hand if they are clear and bright it means good planting and crop.
The Maori New Year starts on the 15 June when the Chinesse New Year starts on the 5 February, that's around 4 months and ten days differents, when our New Year starts 5 months and four days before the Maori New Year.
